Born in California 19 months into the 1950s, I spent a lot of time traveling in a car with my dysfunctional family of six. Much of it going to and from mental institutions to visit my paranoid schizophrenic father with my mom, sisters and brother. My older brother and sister took turns being either the difficult child or model citizen. My younger sister was the silent one and me, I was the clown.
I have a traditional art degree from the University of California at Berkeley in Studio Art. After graduation I spent many years as a graphic designer in film, print, television and the web before creating the Digital Art and Animation program at Cañada College in Redwood City, California. I taught digital painting, graphic design, illustration, photography, imaging, color management and photo restoration.
Now that I am retired I am ready to tell my story hoping to add another crazy childhood story pointing out societal shortcomings and abandonment of shared responsibility in ostracizing the mentally ill and their families.
